Description

The Selvanella Cru is situated in the northern part of the Radda zone, in the hilly area east of the stream named Torrente Pesa. The Sangiovese Grosso vines, coming from a massal selection in the early sixties, put down their roots in ground of diverse geological origins. Apart from the rocky Macigno ground found at higher altitude and the Sillano Formation which together characterise the Radda in Chianti district, there are also, unusually for the area, outcrops of Pietraforte. The combination of these features along with the cool microclimate typical of the zone up behind the Chianti Hills lends great elegance, finesse and long life to the Sangiovese. The Chianti Classico Riserva La Selvanella, vintage 1969, is the natural expression of this unique Cru. A place of extraordinary beauty giving birth to wines of timeless quality.
