In 2016 a protocol agreement was undersigned between the Consorzio Vino Chianti Classico and the Comité Champagne, concerning sharing of experiences in the management of their respective governance, with respect to legal protection of the two designations in other (non-EU) countries, policies for tourism development, and promotion of the two designations’ cultural heritage.

Like Chianti Classico, Champagne is also a member of the transnational Wine Origins Alliance, which currently brings together over thirty designations worldwide.
