The first mention of Borgo Scopeto dates to 1079.The first bottle was produced in 1990; seven years later the estate was bought by Elisabetta Gnudi Angelini who began the restoration with the goal of transforming it into one of Tuscany's most beautiful Relais. At the same time, was built a new cellar for making and aging the wines so as to both rationalize the wine making process and separate it from the hotel. Chianti Classico is produced as both a vintage wine and a Riserva it is flanked by a Borgonero, and by a Vin Santo DOC Chianti Classico and Chianti Classico DOP extra virgin olive oil.
