The Foundation for the Oversight of the Chianti Classico Territory was founded in 1991 at the desire of the Chianti Classico Wine Consortium with the specific mission of safeguarding the Chianti territory and promoting its landscape and its historic, artistic and cultural assets.

Oversight constitutes the principal activity carried out by the Foundation, an activity carried out whether by means of constant environmental monitoring or by promoting specific studies and promoting operating solutions for the territory’s principal problems.

The other important activity is focused on the restoration of the Convent of Santa Maria al Prato at Radda in Chianti in which, beginning in 2009, an art collection will be on permanent exhibition. It will also play host to events, programs, specialized seminars and temporary expositions.
